Wow, what a long awaited scorcher this past week has been, we had more than one barbecue at the Cristiano household, as I’m sure most of the UK has. Luckily for me,  I have been doing a lot development work at Leathams around the ever increasing trend in big, American, comfort cuisine that has been invading our shores recently, so had plenty of samples ideal for barbequing.

With this ensuing American trend, plus the sunny weather expected to continue (for the short term at least!), it’s the perfect time for outdoor caterers to fire up their BBQs, get creative with their menu and to capitalise on British summertime finally arriving, with a real authentic American taste.

If you’re in need of summertime inspiration, here’s a snapshot of the American themed family barbecue we enjoyed on Saturday, lucky for me I can mix business with pleasure, with my family only too happy to act as tasters!

The Deep South Hickory Dog – Cumberland dog with chipotle chilli jam, crispy onions and Merchant Gourmet Chefs® Dijon mustard

The New Yorker – Ground beef pattie with sweet American mustard, Tomatade® and crispy onions

Ranch Chicken Burger – Chicken burger, fire roasted red peppers, guacamole, pepper jack cheese, fire roasted tomato, lettuce & ranch dressing

Creole Kebab – Creole marinated diced chicken breast, haloumi, fire roasted tomato, fire Whole Roquito® peppers, red onion

Cincinnati Chili Hot Dog – Chefs Brigade® Cumberland sausage, chili mix, cheddar cheese, Roquito® peppers, onions
